Weekly News-June 8

“We strongly need to see the manifest hand of God in what we are and what we do.  We need to be sure He is pulling the load, bearing the burden – which we are all too ready to assume is up to us alone.  We must understand that He is in charge of the outcome of our efforts, and that the outcome will be good.” ~Dallas Willard

It’s been a week (or more) of being reminded again of Who is in control. Clearly seeing again that it’s not me even though that’s what I stubbornly continue to strive toward.  I am humbled again as I read Matthew 11:28-30 – I can hear Jesus saying these words to me (to you) with such compassion and love in His voice…

“Come to me all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you.  Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

To continue to have a teachable heart is what is needed.  Confessing the stubbornness and letting go of my own ways.  Coming to Jesus with open hands and patience – and accepting His gift of rest for my soul.  Sounds pretty sweet.  Actually it doesn’t just sound sweet, it IS sweet.

This Sunday we were planning to honour our Grade 12 Grads – but due to unforeseen circumstances, we have needed to reschedule Grad Sunday to July 8th – so we wanted to let you know.

We’ll be gathering for our Sunday worship and Communion Service at 11:00am.  A reminder that there is NO Sunday School for the summer months.  We’ll be resuming classes in the Fall.

And then on Sunday afternoon:
For the Youth:  “Filthy Farmer Fun Run” at Matt & Jeramie-Lee’s.  Meet at 2:00pm and be prepared to get dirty on the run!  Bring a towel & extra set of clothes.
For the Community:  Come join the fun at 5:30pm for a wiener roast.  The course will be open for anyone at that time.
Please bring veggies/salad or dessert, roasting sticks & lawn chairs.

Looking forward to seeing you and your family on Sunday.

Enjoy your weekend!
