2020 is here. I still remember the frenzy of Y2K like it was yesterday, and yet here we are 20 years later! (And not all living in bunkers or eating dried vegetables!) The days are flying by, year after year. One of the things that I love to do each New Year, is to look back over my journals and read through the previous year’s entries. I love doing this, because it reminds me of all that has gone on this past year – both the good things and the hard things. It encourages me to see patterns of things that I’m still struggling with and to continue to bring those to Jesus. It also highlights all the answers to prayer and helps me see the details that God continues to put into place – in my life, in my family’s life and in my community – and to recognize these things as the movement of a caring and loving God, rather than just dismissing them as coincidences or happenstance. I am absolutely convinced that God is at work all around us, and as I look back He shows me again and again how faithful He is and how much He loves me. God is good. This is not a cliche. It’s deep-down truth.
May I encourage you today to take a few moments to look back, before you move too quickly into 2020? God’s doing some things all around us. May He give us the eyes to see and the words to give Him the glory for all that He is doing.
“Those who are wise will take all this to heart;
they will see in our history the faithful love of the Lord.”
Just a reminder that there is NO Sunday School this Sunday. (Classes will resume next Sunday, January 12th at 9:30am with a Pancake Breakfast.)
Join us at 11:00am for our Communion Worship Service. A wonderful way to begin a New Year.
Have a great weekend! See you on Sunday!
