Weekend News

There’s a lot of things happening this Autumn – opportunities for retreats and parties and gatherings and meetings. Take some time to look through Sunday’s bulletin and add the dates to your calendar.

This Sunday is our ‘World Relief Giving Sunday’, where we’ll be hearing about Kernels of Hope. It’s a great Covenant initiative that partners with World Relief Canada and the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, to help farmers and families in the Democratic Republic of Congo. (If you’re able to help out with this project, please make your cheques payable to ECCC.)

So gather your family and come and join us at 9:45am for Sunday School and 11:00am for Worship.

Enjoy your weekend.

Fall Kickoff – Weekend News

“The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the LORD holds them by the hand.” ~Psalm 37:23-24

Yes, it’s been ‘that kind of week’ for me – a bit of a tug-of-war between me and God for control. Funny how I need to keep learning this lesson over and over again. I am not in control – of the weather, of the harvest, of the choices of others, of the outcome of relationships – and the list goes on and on. What I AM in control of, is my choices of what to do with this. Do I bring every detail of my life to God and trust Him with it? Or do I fight Him and insist on having my own way (even though that brings miserable outcomes.) The verse above from Psalms reminds me that God DELIGHTS in every detail in my life. And thankfully, for all the stumbling that I’ve been doing this week, I am thankful that HE’s got me and that I haven’t fallen completely on my face!

Here’s your weekend events…

This Sunday is our Fall Kick-off – beginning with Sunday School for ALL ages at 9:45 am. (Meet in the sanctuary for open session, before heading to your class). Then after Sunday School, we have our Worship Service at 11:00am. And we’re wrapping it all up with a BBQ at 12:30pm. (right after the service). Please bring a salad or a dessert to share. Groups 1 and 5 are on for setting up & cleaning up for the BBQ. (If you’re unsure which group you are a part of or of what the duties are, click here.)

Bring your family and we’ll see you on Sunday!

Long Weekend News

Happy Long Weekend Folks!

What do I say on this chilly, windy, rainy long weekend? How about…got a good book?? 😉 It looks like it will be that kind of weekend…a cup of coffee or tea and a good book to read will help ‘weather our weather’! If you’re out of books and are looking for a good book, have you checked out our little ‘Give and Take’ Library in the church entryway? We’ve got some great fiction and non-fiction books on the shelves – as well as some books suitable for children and teens! So take a look and help yourself to some of the great reads!

This Sunday we’ll still be meeting at 10:00am for our morning Worship Service. It’s the first Sunday of the month, so we’ll also be sharing together in Holy Communion. If you have some time this weekend, read 1 Corinthians 11:23-32. It’s a great passage to prepare our hearts and minds for communion.

This Sunday is also your last chance to order apples or pears! I’m attaching a flyer for you to see all the amazing choices! The youth will be downstairs during the fellowship time to help you with your order.

Stay warm – stay safe, and I’ll see you on Sunday!

End of August Weekend News

It’s the end of August. The smell of harvest is in the air, the busyness of back to school shoppers is everywhere – in town & in the city. Autumn is coming. Are you ready? Every year I ask myself that question, and I’ve come to realize that I’m never really fully ready for all that Autumn will bring. And you know, the older I get, the more ‘okay’ I am with that, because I’m realizing more and more, that God is enough for me and for the things that lie ahead of me. I just need to keep my focus on Him and lean close to Him every single day – the easy days and those hard days that feel out of control & confusing.

A verse that I’ve recently found, and that I just love is from Psalm 94:18-19, from the Common English Bible:

“Whenever I feel my foot slipping, your faithful love steadies me, LORD. When my anxieties multiply, your comforting calms me down.”

I believe these words are truth and can be counted on. I’m memorizing them and hanging on to them as I enter this next Autumn season and all that it will bring. God is always faithful.

This Sunday (& next Sunday too!), our Worship Service begins at 10:00am. (Our fall schedule begins on September 11th). Bring your family, and come join us for a morning of worship, prayer, scripture, teaching and fellowship. A good way to end the summer season!

Enjoy this beautiful sunny day Folks! I’ll see you on Sunday!

What’s up this weekend?

Hello Folks!

I wasn’t sure if the rain was going to hold off, but as Pattie prayed for the meal last night, she asked God to ‘put an umbrella over our evening’ – and He certainly did! It was a beautiful night for visiting and hanging out around a camp fire! Thank you to the Deacon board and to Larry & Pattie for hosting a lovely evening!!

This Sunday, Randall has entitled the worship service, “Good News, Birthdays and Leaving”. That will give you a hint of what Sunday’s service will be all about. (And before anyone jumps to any conclusions – NO, Randall and Marc are not leaving! But someone from our congregation is, and we want to be sending them off with our prayers!) So, we hope that you’ll join us on Sunday at 10:00am, firstly to worship God, who is worthy of ALL our adoration and praise, and secondly to join together with other believers in fellowship, prayer & encouragement – because we truly can’t ‘do life well’, on our own!

Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday.

Enjoy your weekend!

Weekend News

I’ve been chatting with Blayne, and he has let me know that there is a need for food in our community. If you are able to help out, could you please bring non-perishable goods to our food pantry hamper in the foyer? These goods will then be distributed to families in need.

This Sunday, is our ‘World Missions Giving Sunday’. Our missions committee will be sharing about the ongoing work in Haiti, and in some of the other projects that the Canada Covenant is supporting. (If you’re able to help financially with these projects, please make your cheques payable to ‘ECCC’.)

And to remind you again, that right after the morning worship service, we will be having a short meeting – all are welcome to attend.

Weekend News

Lots of activity happening at the church in the next few days! Here’s a quick glimpse for you, not only to know, but to please be in prayer for these upcoming events:

  • on Saturday the Blackwood family is celebrating the wedding of their daughter Kristina, to her fiance, Luke. Be praying for this new young couple, as they say their vows before God and their family & friends.
  • on Sunday, we’ve got a full worship service for you, beginning at 10:00 am. Pastor Marc will be leading our service & Heather will be leading the music & band. We’ll be celebrating Holy Communion, witnessing a baby dedication, along with worshipping in song, prayer and fellowship and hearing God’s word. Please be praying for the service and for all those who will be involved. And also be praying for Pastor Randall & Lauralea as they’ll be travelling home from vacation.
  • on Monday, there will be a funeral service for Anthony R’s dad, Reg Reimer, at 3:00pm. Please be praying for the family, during this difficult time.
  • on Tuesday, there will be a memorial service for Karen H’s dad, John Julas, at 11:00am. If you are attending, could you please bring a plate of sweets to share for after the service? Please be praying for the family during this season of loss.

So, as you can see, there’s a lot of events going on – some joyful and some sorrowful – but all have hope, as we trust in God for our strength for EACH day.

I look up to the mountains—
does my help come from there?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth!
He will not let you stumble;
the one who watches over you will not slumber. ~Psalm 121:1-3

Be blessed today,

P.S. On Sunday, the youth are also beginning their ‘Apple Fundraiser’, and will be taking orders downstairs during the coffee fellowship time.

Herre’s the flyer for this years fundraiser:  Apples 2016

Weekend News

It is really feeling like summer around the Church these days. A slower and a more ‘laid-back’ pace is definitely here. And that’s a welcoming thing, as we enjoy these longer daylight hours and spend more time outside enjoying the beauty around us!

I’m also keenly aware that these relaxed days here ‘in the field’ contrast even more so with all the senseless hurt and evil that we’re seeing and hearing about in the media. Lets keep praying for our hurting American neighbours and now for those who are mourning in France.

We’re continuing with our Summer services at 10:00 am this Sunday. Pastor Randall will be leading our service and sharing a message with us. (Be praying for Pastor Marc and his family, as they’re away on vacation for the next few days.) This Sunday is also our ‘Trellis Foundation Giving Sunday’. We’ll be sharing with you a little bit more about who Trellis is and what they are all about.

So come prepared to gather and worship God, who is STILL in control of all things.

After the busyness of Canada Day weekend, this weekend seems very quiet and unobtrusive. But those kind of weekends are good too!

So, the only thing I have to announce for this weekend is our Sunday morning Worship service. And to remind you that we’re into our summer hours now, so service begins at 10:00am.

Looking forward to seeing you this Sunday!

Enjoy the weekend.

P.S. And remember for details of the upcoming events, and to check the schedules (like when you’re up next for Coffee Hostessing) – it’s all available here, on our website!
