Weekend News

A lovely blue-sky day out there.  I hope you get some time this weekend to enjoy this beautiful weather that we’re having!
It’s a ‘normal’ kind of weekend around here at the church.  Lots of details and events on the horizon though, so let me encourage you to read the bulletin, or head to the Church Calendar on our website, so you can be aware of what’s happening in the coming weeks.
We hope that you and your family will join us for Sunday School at 9:45 am and our Worship Service at 11:00 am.  And for those of you who are involved in The Family Project, you’re meeting again this Sunday at 6:30pm.
Enjoy your weekend!

Weekend News

Our ‘Food Pantry’ is short of food, that we give to local community needs.  If you’re able to help with this, the following non-perishable items would be most helpful: salt, sugar, lard, oatmeal, rice, kraft dinner, spaghetti & macaroni, pasta & tomato sauce, soup, crackers.
The Youth planning team is looking for a cook for this Wednesday.  Tamara R. is cooking but does not have a partner.  (And we all know how much work it is to cook for 40 youth!!)  If you are able to partner with Tamara for this Wednesday, could you either please contact her or Pastor Marc?
Both pastors are back this Sunday, and are looking forward to sharing in worship, prayer, children’s lesson and message with us all.  So we hope you plan on joining us at 9:45am for Sunday School and 11:00am for our Worship Service.
Have a great weekend and we’ll see you on Sunday!

Weekend News

Good morning Folks,

Did you know that Easter is not done yet? In the church calendar, Maundy Thursday begins the Easter Season, and it carries on right up to Pentecost, 50 days after Easter Sunday. So we are continuing in this ‘Season of New Life’. As Pastor Randall shared last Sunday, God is doing something new amongst us – do we see it? I love this verse in Isaiah 43:19:

See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.

As we shared with you earlier this week, Adele Peterson has gone home to be with her Heavenly Father. Her funeral service will be on Tuesday, April 5th at 2:00pm. Please be in prayer for the family during this time.

We’ve also been made aware of a need for food in our community. Can you help by bringing non-perishable goods to church on Sunday? Items that are most useful are: sugar, salt, lard, oatmeal, rice, canned meats, canned fish, kraft dinner, soup, spaghetti and pasta sauce. The food can be place in the Food Pantry bin, in the church foyer. Thanks!

This Sunday we’ll be gathering at 9:45am for Sunday School, 11:00am for the Worship service. And for those involved with The Family Project – that’s also happening on Sunday at 6:30pm.

Thanks all. Enjoy this beautiful weather and your weekend too. See you Sunday.

Holy Week News

The season of Lent is drawing soon to a close.  Today is our last ‘official’ Malmo Prayer Thursday.  We have been noticing the effects of your prayers, so a huge thank you to all who have been lifting up Malmo to God these days.  It IS making a difference and we thank God for His answers and His care for us!  We hope that you too have been blessed, as you’ve either gathered together in community to pray, or have spent time in personal prayer.
All the events of Holy Week are now here, beginning with Jesus having his final supper with his disciples.  You are invited to join us tonight for our Maundy Thursday service at 7:00 pm, as we remember those final moments, as they lead up to Jesus being hung on the cross. We’ll be reading scripture, singing some songs and sharing communion together this evening.
On Good Friday, there are 2 different services that you can choose from.  In the country, we’ll be joining together with the New Sweden Mission Church at 10:00 am.  In town, there is a joint ministerial service at the Calvary Baptist Church at 10:00am.  We hope that you and your family will choose to take part in one of them.
Sunday’s a-comin’ and we are thankful indeed to be able to celebrate our Risen Saviour on Easter Sunday!  Our worship service begins at 11:00am, (following our 9:45am Sunday School).  Come and join us as we celebrate all that God has done for us.   And if you have any flowers to help us decorate the stage – bring them a long – and we’ll have a beautiful easter display of colour and beauty on the stage.
Wishing you all a meaningful and reflective Holy Week.

We’ve got a few activities happening this weekend…
First, on Saturday morning, we have a special Easter Kids Club from 10:00 – 11:30.  This is for ages 4-11.  And for the moms, the coffee will be on downstairs and a chance to visit and enjoy the company of other moms.
And then on Saturday night, there is a Youth Gym Night at Mecca Glen School, from 7:00 – 10:00pm.  Youth are reminded to bring their indoor shoes. No outdoor footwear allowed!

We’ve got a great worship service planned for you…music, scripture, prayer time, special music, children’s lesson, a message from God’s word…and the Gideons will be with us, sharing about their ministry. (We’ll be giving you an opportunity to support them financially during the offering time, so if you’re able to help out, make your cheques payable to ‘The Gideons’.)  All of this begins Sunday at 11:00am.  And of course we have Sunday School too, beginning at 9:45am.
And don’t forget to change your clocks on Saturday night.  SPRING FORWARD one hour!  And don’t worry – the coffee will be on at church!  😉

It’s March! Weekend News

Happy March!

We’re into another month already.  How quickly time is flying by!
This Sunday, our morning worship service will be focused around ‘Forgiveness’.  The music, the scripture and the message that Randall will be sharing, will all point us to the Lord’s table, as we share in Holy Communion and remember that Our Journey to the Cross leads us Through Forgiveness.
The Family Project continues in the evening at 6:30pm.  All are welcome and child care is available.
I’m looking forward to Sunday, and I hope to see you there.
Enjoy your weekend.

This Weekend…

Thanks for praying yesterday for Malmo.  I know that a number of you gathered together to pray – we did too as staff here in the office.  Isn’t it cool how God meets with us all, in our individual spaces?  And how He hears ALL the prayers that we say for the church?  An amazing God that we serve! 🙂

This is your last chance to get your changes into the next edition of our Church Directory. Let me know by the weekend, if any of your information has changed.  We’d love to have the next directory up-to-date…well, at least for a little while!  😉
We’ve got a little bit of everything planned for you on Sunday…
At 9:45am, we have Sunday School classes for all ages.  Adults – coffee is on in the kitchen, so help yourself before class.
Our worship service begins at 11:00am.  It’s already the 3rd Sunday in Lent, as we’re continuing our journey through this Lenten season. We hope you come to church with a sense of this journey that we are all on.  Our hope and prayer is that the songs that we sing, the prayers that are said, and the teaching that is heard, will encourage you in the coming days and in the personal journey that you are on.
And then after the worship service, we gather downstairs for coffee & fellowship time.
Something unique that is happening after the coffee fellowship time, is an ALL CHURCH HAYRIDE at Matt’s Cabin.  Everyone is welcome for a fun time out to enjoy this amazing February weather that we’ve been having!  And remember – Pastor Randall encouraged you last week that it’s okay to wear your ‘hayride clothing’ to church!  So don’t feel like you need to go home first, before you head out to Matt’s cabin.  Oh!  And if you’re able, please bring your hot-dog roasting sticks and a snack to share (salad or chips or dessert).  Hot dogs and drinks will be provided.
Thanks folks!  See you on Sunday!

Weekend News

Good afternoon Folks!

We’ve been receiving reports & news from some of you who participated in the Thursday Lenten Prayer.  Thank you so much for gathering to pray (whether corporately or individually), on behalf of Malmo.  It encourages us, here in the office, more than you’ll ever know!  So thank you!  🙂
I’m working on the Next Edition of our Phone Directory.  If you or anyone in your family have a change of information, (ie.  cell phone, email address, etc.). could you please let me know, by the end of February?  I’ll be printing the new books in the beginning of March.
Here’s your happenings for the weekend…
There is a Youth Skating Social at New Sweden, on Saturday at 7:00pm.  Please bring your skates, a game to play and a snack to share.  (BEFORE you head over to New Sweden, please check the Youth Facebook Page, in case there are issues with the ice, with this nice weather that we’ve been having.  Pastor Marc will post a notice, if there are any changes to the event.)
This Sunday is the second Sunday in our Lenten Journey.  The scripture you’ll be hearing, the responsive readings that we’ll be doing, and the sermon that Pastor Randall is sharing, all relate to our journey through this Lenten season.  So come with a ready heart to hear what God might be saying to you, during this Lenten journey.
This Sunday is also our ‘Canada Conference Giving Sunday’.  We’ll be sharing a bit about our Conference and the work that they do among us.  (If you’d like to financially support the Conference, please make your cheques out to ECCC.)  If you’d like to know more about our Conference, check out their website at .
Sunday evening at 6:30pm, The Family Project is meeting again.  Everyone is welcome to attend, and childcare is available.
Enjoy your Friday and upcoming weekend, and I’ll see you on Sunday!

Lenten Weekend News

Good ‘Blustery Morning’ to you all!

I hope you’re staying warm & protected from that wind out there!
Today, two of our people are flying to warmer weather!  Rob B. & Amy K. are on their way to Texas to meet the rest of the Ecuador Missions team.  From there, they all fly together to Quito, and then journey on to Cayambe, Ecuador.  Would you be praying for them today – and for the coming week, as they work with the local people and with Joel & Kim (area leaders)?
I’m working on the Second Edition of our Church Directory.  If there has been ANY CHANGES in your contact information, (phone, cell, email, etc.), please give me those changes by the end of February, as I’ll be printing the directory shortly after that.  Thanks!!
This Sunday is the first Sunday in Lent.  Our focus during these next 40 days of Lent will be PRAYER.  So much prayer is needed – for our church, for our people, for our world.  Pastor Randall will be sharing more about that on Sunday.  This Sunday is also Valentine’s Day.  Pastor Marc has a special ‘Valentine’s Children’s Lesson’ planned for the kids.  We’ll also be seeing a video & hearing about our ‘Bible Memory Verse Program’.  And of course, our service will also be filled with worship, music, God’s word and fellowship.  A beautiful way to spend a morning, don’t you think?  🙂
That’s all for this weekend.  Enjoy your Friday and I’ll see you all soon!

“But I am trusting you, O Lord, saying “You are my God!”  My (our) future is in YOUR Hands.” ~Psalm 31:14-15a
