Ecuador Missions Trip 2016

Have YOU ever thought about going on a missions trip?  Well, this just might be the opportunity for you & your family!

“The Evangelical Covenant Church of Ecuador (Iglesia Pacto Evangelica del Ecuador, or IPEE) has invited the Evangelical Covenant Church of Canada (ECCC) to partner with them to build up the body of Christ in a global way.

For several years Andy and Jenell Pluim, former Covenant missionaries to Ecuador, have lead an ECCC mission trip to Ecuador. In recent years we’ve been serving Sumaco, a small village in the eastern jungle to support that community after surviving a devastating earthquake and encourage them in agricultural development and children’s ministry. The next trip, in 2016, will be directed by Natasha Westerhoud and Arden Gustafson.” (www.covchurch.ca)

The team is going to Ecuador from February 12th to 22nd, 2016.

For more information on the next trip, contact Natasha Westerhoud or Arden Gustafson at the Norquay Covenant Church. Phone: (306) 594-2233, or see the attached brochure below.

Weekend News

It’s the end of a busy and quite an eventful week out here in the field. But even though we tire with the struggles and get annoyed with the ‘inconveniences’, in the midst of it all, we still have a home to go to, safety to thank God for, and a Church family to share our griefs and sorrows with. So really, I guess we don’t have it that bad. Sometimes we need those reminders.

This Sunday we are celebrating! We’re rejoicing with a young family as they bring their sweet son to God in dedication. And we’ll be sharing together in Holy Communion. Communion can be a somber & reflective time, but it also can be a joyful & rejoicing time as we realize and celebrate how much we have been forgiven. We have so much to be thankful and grateful for ALL that God has done for us…may that be something that we never forget or take for granted.

So I hope to see you at our worship service, this Sunday at 10:00 am.

Weekend News – Where does YOUR help come from?

I love reading in the Psalms – the prayers and praises & David’s heart-felt petitions. Yesterday I was reading Psalm 121 and found so much encouragement. Maybe these words will encourage you today also…

I lift up my eyes to the mountains –
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip –
he who watches over you will not slumber.
~Psalm 121:1-3
(**Continue reading the rest of this Psalm. Amazing words of comfort & security.)

This Sunday, Pastor Randall is continuing in the series, ‘Psalms in the Summer’. Specifically, a ‘part 2’ of the message from last week – ‘Things that hinder our prayers’. So I hope you’ll join us for our Worship service at 10:00am – a morning of prayer, worship, song, message & fellowship.

And in case you’re wondering…we DO notice when you’re not here – and you ARE missed!!

Enjoy this beautiful August day. See you Sunday!

P.S. In case you missed the Apple & Pear order form, here it is. Only a couple of weeks left to order!

Weekend News – Summer is winding down…

Well, we can feel it in the air – and the calendar agrees – summer is winding down. Pretty soon Autumn will be upon us, with changes in weather and in schedules and routines. Are you ready? Should I ask that? My girl is finally letting me say the ‘S’ word, as she’s resigned herself to the fact that yes, ‘school’ is indeed right around the corner!

Here in the office we’re winding down the summer too. We’re looking forward to welcoming Pastor Marc & his family back again from vacation. (Be praying for them, as they are currently in the air, flying home.) We’re also talking and planning for the upcoming Autumn season – and what that means for us here in the office, and for our church as a whole. Really it is an exciting time – a sense of ‘new & fresh’, as we, too, adjust into a new schedule.

BUT, before I get too ahead of myself – we DO still have 2 more August Sundays before us! Pastor Randall is continuing in the series, “Psalms in Summer”, and Pastor Marc will be leading the music. And of course we have our prayer time and after service coffee fellowship time too! A great morning indeed! I hope you’ll plan on joining us!

OH! And don’t forget that after the service, the youth are selling Orchard Fresh Apples & Pears too! (I’m attaching an order form for you, in case you missed one last week. – Malmo Youth Apple Order Form 2015 )

Enjoy your weekend Folks & I’ll see you on Sunday at 10:00am.

Weekend News

Hi Folks!

Did you have a chance to see the pics of the ‘Antique Auto Club’ on our website? A pretty fun thing to see yesterday, as they rolled through our area & enjoyed some of our green space. I love these sort of ‘unusual events’ that happen at our church! ☺

This Sunday is our ‘World Missions Giving Sunday’. Did you know that our Conference has Global Initiatives with different Ministry Partnerships in 5 different countries? We are making a difference in areas outside of Canada too…and that is exciting to see and hear about! If you’d like to support the ongoing work of our Conference in World Missions, please make your cheques payable to ‘ECCC’ and memo it ‘World Missions’.

In summertime, sometimes you have to juggle things a bit more, as people are away or unavailable. This is one of those Sundays. Pastor Randall has a busy morning, as he’ll be both leading us in worship and with the music. And of course still sharing God’s word with us too. So, be praying for him – as it’s going to be an extra busy morning.

And continue praying for Pastor Marc & his family as they are still away on vacation. We’re looking forward to their return next week!

Thanks folks – and remember that our website has all the information that you need to stay current on the latest happenings at the Church. (whether it be events or when you’re on for coffee hostessing).

Summer Weekend News

It’s been a couple of weeks since we’ve met in our building. We’re looking forward to being together again at 10:00 am this Sunday! Pastor Randall will be leading us in worship & sharing Holy Communion with us, and the lovely Heather will be leading the music and the band.

Since I’m writing this, I’ll take this opportunity for one last plea for you to get your directory information forms back to me. I’m hoping to wrap it all up & have it printed next week, so the directory’s will be available on the 16th. So I need your information ASAP, if you’d like to continue to be in our directory. Thank you to those of you who have already done it! I truly, truly appreciate your help!

That’s all for now folks! Enjoy your day & your weekend and we’ll see you on Sunday!
