Praying for our Future Building Needs

As you pray about the future building needs of Malmo, here are some places to start. These can help give us words and reminders to pray.

  • Pray that God would clearly lead us in this decision.
  • Pray that God stirs in each of us to participate and to do our part in the decision making process.
  • Pray that we might have a holy indifference so that the direction God leads us in doesn’t matter so much to us. Only that He leads us.
  • Pray for unity in the spirit here at Malmo.
  • New or old building, pray that God would give us a useful facility for the next generations.
  • Ask the Lord to help us hear his heartbeat for our future.
  • Pray that we might be strong and courageous in our faith.

And…..We’re BACK!!!

This past Wednesday night was A-BUZZ with activity and energy as 47 youth and 8 leaders gathered in the Malmo church basement, for the Kick-off of the Wednesday Night Youth Program!  We have renamed our group, the ‘Malmo Community Youth Group’, because we truly do have kids from all over our community – rural and urban – coming to youth.  We had a fantastic evening of ‘celebratory food’ (pizza, chips, pop & ice cream), get-to-know-you games & garbage ball.  We then finished the evening with a devotional to talk about why we gather and what the focus of our year will be.  This year we’ll be concentrating on ‘What it means to be a Disciple of Jesus’, and how to live out that reality in our every day lives.

So, thank you for your prayers!  Thank you to all who are volunteering in some way with our program!  Thank you for your support as we begin another year of youth ministry!  We are really excited & looking forward to what God has in store…for ALL of us!

Youth Kickoff

It’s hard to believe that it’s time for youth again, summer seemed to go by so quickly. But here we are and we’re excited for what this year will bring! This year will include all of those things our youth have come to love and expect: meals together, games and activities, and Bible study—friendship, fun, and faith—and we pray that we will grow closer to God in the process.

Our goal is to learn to follow Jesus together in relationship and Bible study (Matt. 28:19-20). This year we will have several sr. high and jr. high small groups looking at Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5-7) and asking the question, what does a disciple of Jesus look like, and what does that mean for me and my life? We hope that these conversations will encourage, inspire, and transform our young people, and that these conversations will carry on at home.

The Malmo Community Youth Group Wednesday night Bible study kicks off tonight at 6:00: supper, games, introductions, and a devotional from Pastor Marc: will you be wise or will you be foolish?

Welcome here

When I was first asked to think about moving to Malmo, one of the first things I did was to google it. Of course most of the hits I got were in Sweden and I knew I wasn’t called there. There were no Malmo Mission Covenant Church links or places even on Google maps to see where it was.

Over these years we’ve had people working to create an online presence for our church and the broader community. For a while malmomc.com worked fine but as we have worked to communicate better, we’ve been growing out of that space.

With a desire to communicate more with the local church body and having more and more people asking where to find out more about the Malmo church, and now that even google maps has found us on it’s maps, we felt it was time for website 2.0.

Credit for the new site goes to the staff at MMCC, but especially to our Admin person Delora Doell. She has worked tirelessly to learn and create the site and has developed some serious webmaster skills along the way.

We are excited by what this space can help us accomplish for the kingdom of God in our lives. There are some sermons here, and photos, announcements, reminders, calendars, stories, and opportunities to grow, to do mission, to give, to pray and to be prayed for, to volunteer, to grow as a disciple, to attend youth, read a bulletin, see our history, discover our values, learn what a Sunday is like here, …deep breath… and find out why we even meet here and have been doing so for over a hundred years.

And since our eighty and ninety year olds are now getting online, we figured it was time to catch up with them.

So have a look around and check out the things that may help you grow in your faith.

We’ll see you on Sunday.
Pastor Randall

Ecuador Adventure

Each year, Andy & Jenell Pluim lead a conference-wide missions trip to Ecuador.  Recently, our Canada Conference has formed a partnership with the Ecuadorian Covenant Church (IPEE) to support the Santiago Partnership Foundation.  This ministry serves communities that need medical clinics & homes for children at risk.  The team is going from February 24th to March 6th, 2015.  We are very excited to be able to be a part of this exciting work in Ecuador!

Have you always wanted to go on a missions trip?  Is God calling YOU to be involved in this ministry?  Questions or looking for more information?  Click here.

Where does my help come from?

Good morning! How y’all doing today? I know it’s cloudy & life is busy…but it is still a day to “rejoice & be glad, because we’re not alone…

“I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.” – Psalm 121:1&2

This Sunday we’ll continue rejoicing together with a family, as they bring their sweet baby boy to the Lord in dedication. We’ll also be hearing an update from the Gideons.

Looking forward to worshipping with you all on Sunday! See you then!

Adventures in Leadership

Adventures in Leadership is a leadership program for high school kids going into grades 10-12, organized and led by our denomination. It involves Christian leadership training in a wilderness setting (partially at Covenant Bay Bible Camp, but mostly the rocky mountains west of there). It runs from August 5-12.

Up to two young people from our church can go. Weston Vickery went last year and it was a great experience for him. If you have any questions about the Adventures in Leadership experience, you could ask him.

The deadline for applications is May 13th. Malmo Covenant Church will cover a portion of the costs involved. If you are interested (or you are interested on behalf of your child) please talk to Pastor Marc.
