I took the journey into full-time ministry the long way ’round: eventually at age 35 I landed here at Malmo-in-the-Field. My care at this church includes a variety of things, including our young people and our families and discipleship for all ages.

I’ve been married for 14 years (as of this writing) to Dixie and have three wonderful children, aged 11, 9, and 7. I enjoy the simple things in life: a cup of tea (Yorkshire Gold, please!); a good book; music; British television; a walk; quiet; games; laughter. I am a bit of an introvert, but I enjoy just being with people. I enjoy a good theological conversation, even if it’s speculative. I am Dutch (by birth, as a matter of fact!), but I am an Anglophile (which is why I’ve added “-in-the-Field” to our location name).

I love the church. It’s such a mess sometimes that it’s comical, which is why it’s such a beautiful thing. A beautiful mess. Jesus is redeeming this mess, this motley bunch, and we gather as a group in grateful response to his self-sacrificing love. The mess isn’t always funny, of course, and it can be difficult, but there is great hope in our gathering each week in Jesus’ name.
