It’s good to be back with you again! Even if it’s just in sending out this weekly news email! I’ve been missing some of my ‘normal’ rhythms of life lately. (Although, can I even use the word ‘normal’??). My life has been anything but ‘normal’ these past few months. Seems like change (and not just ‘Covid’ change) have been affecting me in almost every area of my life. During staff meeting yesterday, Pastor Randall asked me what I’m holding onto these days. I immediately said “God”. Both Pastors teased me that I gave them the ‘right Sunday School answer’. But as much as that sounds like a ‘Sunday School answer’, it really is my heartfelt and truthful answer. I’m sure I would be a ‘puddle-on-the-floor-mess’, if I didn’t have God at my side, giving me the hope and the daily strength that I need to go through life and its challenges.
One of the gifts that God’s been giving me lately, is the book of Psalms. The heart cries of David and the other Psalmists have been resonating deeply within my own heart during this season of change. They have also been giving me language, as I talk to God and share my thoughts and concerns with Him. There are just so many Psalms that I could share with you today, but here’s one that has been especially meaningful to me. If you have time, read it slowly.
Psalm 86:1-7 (NLT)
“Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;
answer me, for I need your help.
2 Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
3 Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
4 Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
5 O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
6 Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
7 I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.”
Our God not only loves us, but He HEARS us and cares about every detail in our lives. This is the God we serve. And this is why we can get through the changes and challenges that are before us.
And before I share the announcements with you, I would like to take this opportunity to say a HEARTFELT THANK YOU for your prayers for us and for Dana & Connor. As many of you have already heard, the wedding was amazing – both in the celebration and in the weather! It was even better than we could have ever imagined! God truly DID clear the skies, calm the winds and dry up the ground, and we give Him praise for His goodness to us, and for answering both our prayers and YOURS as well! Thank you for all of your prayers and well wishes and for loving us so well through all of this. ♥️♥️
Hillary Friesen and her fiance Dave, would like to extend their sincere thank you’s for the wedding shower gifts. They received your cards and gifts and have been so blessed by your kindness.
TOMORROW!! All Ladies and kids are invited to celebrate a Baby Shower for Amy and Josiah Van Raamsdonk at 3:00pm at Alli Pluim’s house. We will do an outdoor, physical distancing party that is come and go. Feel free to wear a mask if that is more comfortable for you. All food and drink will be individually wrapped items. If you feel more comfortable just staying in your car and dropping off a gift that is great too. If you would like to arrange to drop something for them here in advance I am happy to arrange that as well. We were sad to not be able to celebrate them when Josiah was born but look forward to blessing them now and meeting this little (big) guy! Any questions please call or text Alli at 780-312-4256.
The apple fundraiser is on again this year! This fundraiser is a delicious way to help support the Malmo Community Youth Group.
Available this year: Davison Honeycrisp, Gala, Okanagan Blend, and Bartlett Pears. Click here to see the flyer with more information. Flyers will also be available at church the next two Sundays as well. Your order needs to be in (to Pastor Marc) by the evening of Thursday, September 3. Pick up day will be Tuesday, September 15 at Malmo from 9:00am-7:00pm. Thanks for your support!
Join us this Sunday at 10:30 am for an INDOOR Service in the Malmo Church Building. This will be a ‘practice run’ and we ask for your patience as we explore this new way of meeting together. Small assorted groupings of chairs have been placed in the sanctuary and we will have people helping with chairs that morning to assist us to be separate. We will invite you to enter the building from the front where we can welcome you with more instructions as needed. All Covid-19 requirements that have been laid out for the churches will be met. We encourage you to wear a mask, if you aren’t able to maintain the 6′ physical distance requirement.
Please pray for this time so we can adjust and get ready for winter services indoors. (Check out THIS video to help you prepare)
Here’s a couple of pictures of the re-organized Sanctuary space:
As Covid-19 is still in our province, we need to remind you that you must not attend in person if you are experiencing the most common symptoms of COVID-19 (cough, fever, shortness of breath, runny nose, or sore throat).
We also understand that you might not be ready to come and worship with us in person – and that’s okay! We plan to have an online service prepared that we hope you will engage with. You can find it here on our website, on Sunday.
Take care Folks! I wish you all a wonderful weekend!
