MAY 17, 2020 – SCATTERED BUT WORSHIPPING TOGETHER

As you make your way through today’s worship service, instructions and suggestions will be included in italics. Get a cup of coffee and settle in for this time of worship with your community.

Welcome to Worship

At 11 am gather in a common area in your home.
In the centre, place a lit candle.

Prayer (Or you can pray in your own words)

Heavenly Father, remind us that we are not people of fear: we are people of faith. We are not people who protect our own safety: we are people who protect our neighbours’ safety. We are not people of greed: we are people of generosity. We are your people God, giving and loving, wherever we are, whatever it costs. For as long as it takes, wherever you call us.

Lord, hear our prayer.

Song words:

Mighty to Save

Ev’ryone needs compassion
Love that’s never failing
Let mercy fall on me
Ev’ryone needs forgiveness
The kindness of a Saviour
The hope of nations

Saviour He can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save
He is mighty to save
Forever Author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave

So take me as You find me
All my fears and failures
Fill my life again
I give my life to follow
Everything I believe in
Now I surrender

Saviour He can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save
He is mighty to save
Forever Author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave

Shine your light and let the whole world see
We’re singing
For the glory of the risen King
Jesus
Shine your light and let the whole world see
We’re singing
For the glory of the risen King

Saviour He can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save
He is mighty to save
Forever Author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave

Song words:

Jesus

There is a truth older than the ages
There is a promise of things yet to come
There is One born for our salvation
Jesus

There is a light that overwhelms the darkness
There is a kingdom that forever reigns
There is freedom from the chains that bind us
Jesus…Jesus

Who walks on the waters
Who speaks to the sea
Who stands in the fire beside me
He roars like a lion
He bled as the Lamb
He carries my healing in His hands
Jesus

There is a name I call in times of trouble
There is a song that comforts in the night
There is a voice that calms the storm that rages
He is Jesus Jesus

Who walks on the waters
Who speaks to the sea
Who stands in the fire beside me
He roars like a lion
He bled as the Lamb
He carries my healing in His hands
Jesus

Messiah
My Saviour
There is power in Your name
You’re my rock and my Redeemer
There is power in Your name
In Your name

You walk on the waters
You speak to the sea
You stand in the fire beside me
You roar like a lion
You bled as the Lamb
You carry my healing in Your hands
God

Jesus
There is no one like You
Jesus
There is no one like You

Scripture Reading for the Day – Luke 6:46-49
Invite someone to read aloud.

Jesus speaks:

“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?  As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like.  They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.  But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”

Take time to pray together
Some of the things we’re praying for these days:

  • Roger had surgery on his broken wrists this last Friday. Pray for complete healing and a quick recovery.
  • Heather’s Oma is in the hospital after breaking her hip and is not doing well. She knows Jesus, so we can be thankful for that. Pray for her and her family in the coming days, as her health continues to decline and the current restrictions make visiting and celebrating her difficult.
  • Pete’s brother is not doing well. The brain surgery did not get all of the tumour. Pray for peace and comfort in the coming months and wisdom for the family.
  • Gwen is in hospital is not doing well. Pray for the family as they discern the next steps for her ongoing care.
  • For our seniors and shut-ins, who are not only at greater risk when it comes to COVID-10, but these days may feel especially isolated and lonely.
  • Pray for an end to the virus and, in the meantime, wisdom for our leaders and patience and kindness for ourselves, and for our people who are in self-isolation.
  • Other prayers you may have that aren’t listed here.

Closing Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.
