The Gospel is Good News

The Gospel is Good News

When the early Christians spoke about the gospel they had something simple and specific in mind: Jesus died, was buried, and rose again. The third item—Jesus’ resurrection from the dead—made all the difference. It’s why we’re here. Sometimes, however, the temptation is to make the gospel into something else: good advice—good advice for living, for forgiveness, for getting wealthy, for getting healthy, etc. Sometimes the advice is good and in line with the gospel, other times it’s terrible advice and actually stands against the gospel. But any good advice there is comes as a result of the gospel.

We look at 1 Corinthians 15 to see how the gospel itself is not good advice, it’s good news about an event that happened in history: Jesus is alive!

And that makes all the difference.

1 Corinthians 15
