Disappointment and sadness. Those are the words that mark the day around here in the Doell home. Our home has been hit with deep disappointment, as the Government made the very difficult decision to cancel Mass Gatherings for this summer. In our head, we know that this decision is meant for the overall good and protection of the people – but in our heart, it’s hard. We had plans for this summer – plans to celebrate a wedding for our youngest with family and friends. That now needs to change and look completely different, as we continue to battle Covid-19 in our province and country. And I know it’s not just us dealing with disappointments. I’ve been talking to some of you as well, and have heard your disappointments. Some of you had been making travel plans for this summer and are realizing that you can’t go anywhere. Some of you where planning parties to celebrate Milestone Birthdays and Anniversaries – those are now postponed or have been celebrated on a much smaller and quieter scale. Some of you have graduates in your home and June will pass with much less fanfare than originally expected. On a personal note, may I send you a sincere and heartfelt “I’m so sorry”. I feel and understand your sadness. On a corporate note – what do we do? I’ve been reading in Revelations and came across this very familiar verse…
“For the Lamb on the throne
will be their Shepherd.
He will lead them to springs of life-giving water.
And God will wipe every tear from their eyes.”
I remember when I read it a few days ago, I thought to myself, “ya that will be nice one day”. But honestly? I’m realizing that I need it TODAY. I need God to wipe my tears TODAY. To tell me that it’s okay and to remind me AGAIN that nothing that is happening today is surprising Him. He IS the Lamb on the throne right now – not only when the world ends – but right now, at this very moment. And He cares about my sadness and He cares about yours. So that’s where I’m going – to sit at His feet and cry – and to wait for the “springs of life-giving water”, that I believe with all my heart that He will give. I pray that if you are dealing with sadness and disappointment today, that you too will ‘join me’ at His feet. There’s enough room and love for us all.
Men! Did you know that the Mens Morning Prayer meeting is still happening? From the quiet of your home, you can join other men in fellowship and prayer on Tuesday mornings at 6:30am via Zoom. Contact Pastor Marc if you’re interested, and he’ll send you the link to join.
This Sunday, we’ll be continuing with our “Scattered but Worshipping Together” services. As in previous weeks, Pastor Randall will be sending you an email tomorrow with all the details. Thanks to those of you who have shared your feedback with the Pastors about our “Scattered but Worshipping Together” services. And may I encourage you to continue to do that? If you have any thoughts or ideas or just general comments, please let Pastor Randall and/or Pastor Marc know. I know that they would love to hear from you.
