Weekly News-Dec. 4th

There’s a complacency that can happen when we’ve heard a story or repeated an event many times.  In my advent readings this week, the author talked about the Wisemen’s reactions when they found Jesus.  Here’s an account of that event:

“They entered the house and saw the child in the arms of Mary, his mother. Overcome, they kneeled and worshiped him. Then they opened their luggage and presented gifts: gold, frankincense, myrrh.” ~Matthew 2:11,      The Message (italics mine)

This verse has been on my mind all week and it has caused me to ask myself these questions…Is my reaction the same as the Wiseman’s when I encounter and spend time with Jesus?  Do I abandon everything and just focus on Him in adoration and worship because I am overcome with His Presence?  Or is my time with Him full of distraction and ‘inner noise’ that makes me forget Who I am with?

Just a few things I’m considering as I walk through this season of Advent.  My prayer for myself and for you, is that the story of Jesus coming to Earth will be fresh and new again, so that we too, like the Wiseman, will be overcome in His presence and fall on our knees in worship of Him.

The Iron Men gathering that was planned for this Saturday (Dec. 5th) has been CANCELLED, due to Covid-19 restrictions.

This Sunday, we will be gathering at 10:30am for the Second Sunday of Advent Prayer & Worship Service.
We have a limit of about 60 people at the service, so if you would like to attend, please send your RSVP to office@malmochurch.ca by Saturday evening at 6:00pm.  Please also make note that sitting with your household and wearing a mask are now mandatory for the in-person services.

As Covid-19 is still in our province, we need to remind you that you must not attend in person if you are experiencing the most common symptoms of COVID-19 (cough, fever, shortness of breath, runny nose, or sore throat).

We also understand that you might not be ready to come and worship with us in person – and that’s okay!  We encourage you to join us online instead!  On Sunday, you can access this week’s Advent service HERE.

Take care,
