Weekly News-Feb 4th

My heart is filled with much emotion as I write to you today, knowing that this is my last “Friday News email”.  I will miss writing to you, along with a number of other things that I have really enjoyed over these past 8+ years being Malmo’s Administrative Assistant.

So what do I say in this final email?  The word that’s been coming to my mind is encouragement.  That’s really what my hope and prayer for these emails has been – that they would be an encouragement to you.  As I’ve been writing, I’ve often imagined that you and I were sitting together at a table, over a delicious cup of coffee (or tea 😉), talking about life.  About the REAL stuff of life – not just about the weather and ‘surface-y’ things – but about our life with Jesus.  The ups and downs, the heartaches and blessings, the places where we’ve seen Him work, and the silences as we are waiting to hear His voice.  To share these things together and to pray for each other, because honestly, we need each other.  Plain and simple.  We need to share our stories and continue to be real and encourage each other, because we are all broken.  We are all in need of grace and mercy and love – from God and from each other.

This past week, I heard this quote: “Compassion is free and kindness can be given away.”  Oh this is so true!  Are we being compassionate with others and really listening to their stories?  Are we being kind to the clerk at the grocery store?  Are we giving a generous tip to our restaurant server, knowing that their job has been stressful and challenging in these Covid-filled days?

So my encouragement to you today is to…

  • …keep on loving Jesus in your every day beautiful life
  • …keep on encouraging others with patience, a kind word and a smile
  • …keep on being real with each other.  There is no shame in brokenness, because there is always HOPE for healing and a bright future with Jesus.  (I, and many others, are proof of His never-ending love that heals the brokenness.❤️)
To end, I’d like to leave you with this beautiful blessing from Ephesians.  It is my prayer for us all.

“I ask the God of our Master, Jesus Christ, the God of glory—to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing him personally, your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is he is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life he has for his followers, oh, the utter extravagance of his work in us who trust him—endless energy, boundless strength!”
~Ephesians 1:18-19 (The Message)
