Weekly News-June 19

Thank you for praying for the work of our Pastors and Leaders here at Malmo.  This season of Covid-19 has been a time of stress for our Leaders, as they try to navigate and lead us through the unknowns of this pandemic.   Your prayers are so important and greatly appreciated, so please keep them coming.

There’s a lot of news below.  Please take some time to carefully read the information about our upcoming events.

A message from our Chairman, Jeremy Pluim:

  • The Church Board has been meeting and deliberating about the best way to restart our Sunday morning in-person worship services.  The requirements by the Government are in-depth and complex.  This requires a lot of creative organization and work to prepare our building and people to meet indoors.
If you would like to help us get ready for this next step, please contact Jeremy Pluim at 780-312-4236.
  • We have decided that we will begin meeting together on Sunday, July 5th at 10:30am, with an OUTDOOR SERVICE on the Church Grounds.  Please dress for the weather and bring your lawn chairs and mosquito spray.  If it is raining that Sunday, the service is cancelled.  If you are uncomfortable with meeting in person, please feel free to go to our ‘Scattered’ service at: www.malmochurch.ca/scattered-but-worshiping-together/   as we will still be posting the online service.

As you know, our dear sister Gwen passed away a few weeks ago.  There will be a Memorial Service for Gwen at Malmo on Sunday, June 28th in the afternoon.  Because of the current Covid-19 restrictions, attendance at the Memorial Service will be by “invitation only from the Ericson family.”  Contact Daryl Ericson if you have any questions.

We have received a financial update from our Church Treasurer.  He says, “We continue to be in a comfortable financial position with expenses only a few hundred dollars higher than income at this point.  Donations continue to also come in for the Building Fund with an account balance in the fund of $322,260.”  CLICK HERE if you’d like to see the graphs and more data.  If you have any questions, please contact Corey N.

This Sunday is Father’s Day (already!)  As part of our “Scattered but Worshipping Together” service, Luke Vandersluys has produced a heart-warming video tribute to our Dads. We know that you’ll enjoy watching this beautiful video.  Our service continues with scripture, prayers, a video sermon and a Children’s Lesson, however there will not be a PDF for this service.  Please go to:  www.malmochurch.ca/scattered-but-worshiping-together/  to access the whole service on our website.  We hope that you’ll join us for this Sunday’s Father’s Day service, even though we are still ‘scattered’.

I received MANY PICTURES this week!  Thank you!  Click on the Malmo Photo Gallery to see all the latest additions.  Remember that you can continue to send me photos ANYTIME via email at: office@malmochurch.ca or text them directly to me at 780-312-4620.  It’s great to see your faces! 😊

Thank you for continuing to support the work and ministry here at Malmo.  Online Giving continues to be available.  We also accept donations via cheque, so if that is your preferred method, you can continue sending it through the mail, to: Malmo Mission Covenant Church, RR #2, Wetaskiwin AB, T9A 1W9.

Please go to: www.malmochurch.ca for any information that you are looking for.

Take care Folks,
Delora
