Weekly News-May 21st

Quiet.  What do we do when things are quiet?  What do we think about? Often I find that it’s in the quiet times that I wrestle the most with my soul.  Thoughts, ideas, doubts and questions come up.  Taking the time to process these things takes a lot of energy and determination, because it’s much easer to just ‘stay busy’ and ‘numb’ ourselves with external things…mindless social media scrolling, Netflix, non-stop activity, shopping – really numbing can be ‘bingeing’ on just about anything.

Instead of finding something to fill the quiet space, what if we just came to Jesus instead?  Allow all the questions, ideas and doubts to rise to the surface and bring each of them to Jesus.  Have Him help us identify what it is, what’s going on and what we should do with it, instead of just ignoring it or trying to figure it out on our own.  This verse is very near and dear to my heart.  An invitation to keep company with Jesus today…

“My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.”
And my heart responds, “LORD, I am coming.”
~Psalm 27:8

Here’s a couple of items that I wanted to highlight:
  • If you are writing a cheque to make a donation to the church, could you please use our full name, ‘Malmo Mission Covenant Church’ on your cheque?  Our Financial Secretary, Andy P.  has let us know that the bank is becoming more particular about what is written on the cheque.  The bank does not want to accept cheques with abbreviations or a shortened version of our name.  If you have any questions about this, please talk to Andy.
  • We’re still looking for help with cutting the grass at church.  If you (& your mower!) are able to help with this, please talk to Darryl D., Tyson K. or Mike N.

Join us for our Live Stream Worship Service this Sunday at 10:30am.  You can access the service HERE.

Take care,
Delora
