October is upon is, with all it’s colourful and beautiful glory! And the weather has been so lovely and mild that it’s been easy to spend time outside and enjoy this changing season.
Soon we’ll be celebrating Thanksgiving. Even though life looks different this year with Covid-19, there is still so much that we have to be thankful for. One of those things, is our two Pastors! They are both faithful and diligent disciples of Jesus, who have been working hard to keep us connected – with each other and with the God whom we serve. This has not been an easy thing for them to do in this ever changing climate of Covid-19. They’ve had to adapt and change how they see and how they do ministry during this time. But one thing that has never changed, is their faithfulness to God as they continue to share Him with us and encourage us in our daily walk – even if the way they do that looks different than it has in the past. They have done a remarkable job through all of the Covid challenges, and I am so blessed to be able to work with them both and to have them lead us, here at Malmo.
October is “Pastor Appreciation Month”. Now honestly, we should be appreciating our Pastors ALL through the year! However, October is specifically set aside for us to intentionally appreciate our Pastors AND their families. (who go through a lot too being in a pastor’s family!) So will you join me in appreciating our Pastors this month? You can do this a number of different ways. (And I know that you are a creative people!) The following isn’t an exhaustive list, but just a few suggestions to get you thinking…
- Write a card or letter to express your appreciation and thanks to them. This isn’t just something adults can do – kids can do this too!
- Send the Pastor & their spouse out on a ‘date night’. Time away to be together is always appreciated. (Local Restaurants enjoyed are: Huckleberry’s, Mr. Mikes, Swiss Chalet, The Keg)
- Gift cards to places that interest our Pastors. Some suggestions which they both enjoy are: Amazon, Costco, Chapters, Wendy’s, McDonald’s, Subway, Beans, Starbucks.
“The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honour, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching” (1 Timothy 5:17).
Thank you for loving our Pastors and their families so well. ♥️
The Home Altars for October – December are in! Copies are located in the black cubbies in the foyer.
Join us this Sunday at 10:30 am for our Communion Worship Service. If the weather cooperates, we will be having our worship service outside. HOWEVER, we will email you by 9:30am on Sunday morning and let you know what the final decision is as to the location of the worship service. (Reminder – if the service is outside, please bring your lawn chairs and dress for our Alberta weather.) As always, we encourage you to wear a mask, if you aren’t able to maintain the 6′ physical distance requirement. (Masks are available at church, if you don’t have your own.) Here are this week’s Song Sheets, if you’re interested in putting them on your digital device before Sunday.
As Covid-19 is still in our province, we need to remind you that you must not attend in person if you are experiencing the most common symptoms of COVID-19 (cough, fever, shortness of breath, runny nose, or sore throat).
We also understand that you might not be ready to come and worship with us in person – and that’s okay! We plan to have an online service prepared that we hope you will engage with. You can find it here on our website.
Take care Folks!
