Weekly News-Sept. 11th

It’s another day, filled with ______________.  (I’ll let you fill in the blank.)  These days of ours, are filled with moments and details…some bring us joy, some bring us sorrow.  Some are exciting and challenging, while others can make us wish that we just stayed in bed.  But no matter what your day holds today, these moments and details are not random or coincidental.  Each moment is known by God and is given to us as a gift and as an opportunity to trust Him.  The very familiar verse from Psalm 118:24 says:

“This is the day the Lord has made.
We will rejoice and be glad in it.”

James Bryan Smith, in his book The Good and Beautiful Life, (I highly recommend this excellent book!) personalized the above verse into this prayer:

“This is a day you have made for me God, so I will rejoice and be glad in it.  Be with me this day, and help me to trust in you for all that I do this day.  Amen.”

I’ve written that prayer on a sticky and posted it on my bathroom mirror, to see each morning as a reminder that this day truly IS a gift from God.  So today, whether I am in the middle of a joy (playing with my precious grandson!), or in the middle of a frustration (unplugging the combine!), God is with me, no matter the moment, giving me what I need today.  And He’s with you too! ♥️

The fresh-from-the-orchard, Davison apples and pears arrive this week!  (I’m excited about this! 😃). So if you ordered apples/pears from this youth fundraiser, they need to be picked up this Tuesday at Malmo, between 9am and 7pm.  (Please contact Pastor Marc to make arrangements, if you are unable to pick up your order that day.)

The Youth Kick-off will be on Wednesday, September 23rd.  This is for all Junior & Senior High students.  More details on the event will be coming soon.

A reminder that Pastor Randall and Lauralea are away on vacation until October 5th.  Please continue to be praying for their safety and rest as they spend this time away.

Join us this Sunday at 10:30 am for our Worship Service.  If the weather cooperates, we will be having our worship service outside.  HOWEVER, we will email you by 9:30am on Sunday morning and let you know what the final decision is as to the location of the worship service.   (Reminder – if the service is outside, please bring your lawn chairs and dress for our Alberta weather.)  As always, we encourage you to wear a mask, if you aren’t able to maintain the 6′ physical distance requirement.  (Masks are available at church, if you don’t have your own.)  Here are this week’s Song Sheets, if you’re interested in putting them on your digital device before Sunday.

As Covid-19 is still in our province, we need to remind you that you must not attend in person if you are experiencing the most common symptoms of COVID-19 (cough, fever, shortness of breath, runny nose, or sore throat).

We also understand that you might not be ready to come and worship with us in person – and that’s okay!  We plan to have an online service prepared that we hope you will engage with.  You can find it here on our website, on Sunday.

Have a great weekend!
