Weekly News-Sept 4th

I have a number of different signs and reminders posted in my office – both at church and at home.  Some are just simple ‘stickies’ attached to the front of my computer, that eventually get removed as new ones get put on.  But some are a little more long-standing and permanent because they remind me of things that I need to remember daily, no matter the season.  One of my favourites is this one:

“Ask God for wisdom.
Believe God without doubt.
Thank God no matter what.”

This sign reminds me to:
  • Ask GOD for wisdom (not others, not social media or google – but God!)  James 1:5 says,  “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.”  This verse plainly says that God will give me wisdom.  Do I believe that – or more importantly, do I LIVE like I believe that?  This leads me into the second point…
  • Stop doubting and just believe God for what He says.  The passage in James 1 goes on to say in verse 6, “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.”  I get seasick.  I don’t want to be tossed by waves, actually or figuratively!
  • Lastly, GIVE THANKS.  1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”  What stands out for me in this verse is to give God thanks in all circumstances – not just in the ones that I like – but in ALL things.  This isn’t easy to do, especially when I’m in challenging seasons or when things work out differently than I had hoped.  Can I still thank God in the midst of these challenging circumstances?
None of this is easy to do.  But when I begin the day this way, I find that it makes a difference in my overall demeanour and perspective.  I guess this shouldn’t surprise me, because God’s Word is true, and when I submit to His Words, His Will and His Way, His Spirit living inside of me continues to complete the good work that He has already begun. (Philippians 1:6)  Another thing to be thankful for today! ♥️

Pastor Randall and Lauralea will be away on vacation from September 8th to October 5th.  A portion of their vacation will be spent with family as they celebrate their daughter Hillary’s wedding in Winnipeg.  Would you be praying for Hillary and Dave as they say their vows before God and family and begin their journey together?  Would you also be praying for Randall & Lauralea?  For safety in travelling and all that entails in this Covid season and for rest and rejuvenation for their days away.

Join us this Sunday at 10:30 am for an INDOOR Service in the Malmo Church Building.  The service will include celebrating Holy Communion together.  (Precautions will be taken to do this safely and appropriately.)  Please remember to enter the building from the front where we can welcome you with more instructions as needed.  We also encourage you to wear a mask, if you aren’t able to maintain the 6′ physical distance requirement.  (Masks are available at church, if you don’t have your own.)  As we continue to make adjustments to how we meet for worship, would you please be praying for the leaders, for our gathering and for the decisions that are needing to be made.
As Covid-19 is still in our province, we need to remind you that you must not attend in person if you are experiencing the most common symptoms of COVID-19 (cough, fever, shortness of breath, runny nose, or sore throat).

We also understand that you might not be ready to come and worship with us in person – and that’s okay!  We plan to have an online service prepared that we hope you will engage with.  You can find it here on our website, on Sunday.

Take care Folks!  Have a safe and lovely long weekend!
